
Both of these two beat out Hen Gaidth on an NG+ playthrough because Hen Gaidth caps at level 98. Otherwise, you are looking at the Toussaint Knight's Steel Sword (craftable) or the Belhaven Blade, I believe (though TKSS tends to be preferred). On a first playthrough, if you wait to pick it up right before starting NG+, it likely is the Hen Gaidth Sword. I guess if one is playing only Vanilla, the mastercrafted witcher school steel swords are the best ones? The Witcher gear steel swords are among the best generally speaking (and almost always a safe bet), but they get beat out by a few options from Blood & Wine (and if you have Hearts of Stone but not Blood & Wine, I believe the Viper Venomous swords and the one that Olgierd can give you as a gift depending on how you resolve the main plot are the best options there).
